A county Roscommon man has been named as one of the victims in the DJ Carey fraud case, having been induced to pay money under false pretences.
Aonghus Leydon, who now lives and owns a pub in London was one of 13 complainants in charges to which Carey pleaded guilty, including "claims of fictitious cancer treatment."
In his victim-impact statement, Mr Leydon joins others describing how a former sporting hero betrayed trust for financial gain.
Judge Martin Nolan has indicated a custodial sentence is inevitable as the extent of deceit and the damage to those who were caught up in what the court has described as a "grave breach of trust."
