Roscommon GAA player stunned by success of 'Skyace'

The horse surprised everyone except its trainer Shark Hanlon when it claimed the Grade One on Sunday

A Roscommon club All-Ireland winner says he is still coming to terms with a major horseracing win last Sunday.

The celebrations are continuing for Cathal McHugh and his friends after their horse, Skyace, won the Grade 1 €100,000 Mares' Novice Hurdle on Sunday.

The horse was bought just for just £600 and performed very well at Cheltenham in March before the success at Fairyhouse over the Easter weekend.

A video of the 'Birdinthehand' syndicate cheering on the horse has gone viral online, as the horse racing fans celebrated their unlikely success. The 2013 All-Ireland winner with St Brigid's told the Joe Finnegan show that the syndicate might be tempted to sell the horse if they get the right price:
