A property group founded by a county Roscommon man has secured approval for a major €2 billion redevelopment scheme in north London.
Ballymore's partnership with supermarket chain Sainsbury's-will see a long-underused site transformed into a large mixed-use neighbourhood featuring thousands of homes, new retail space and upgraded transport links.
Under the approved plans, more than 3,300 homes will be built in phases, including a substantial allocation of affordable units and a dedicated block for student accommodation, reflecting growing pressure on housing supply across the British capital.
The project also includes hundreds of thousands of square feet of commercial and leisure space, with proposals for shops, cafés, restaurants and a cinema.
London City Council said the development would "create a vibrant new urban quarter" and deliver significant economic benefits locally.
Ballymore estimates the scheme will support more than 1,400 permanent jobs once completed, in addition to construction employment.
