Roscommon couple willing to do jail time over travel to mass during Covid

The couple had breached the Covid travel restrictions in place last year to travel to mass in Cavan

A Roscommon couple say they're willing to go to jail rather than pay a 300 euro fine for breaking Covid restrictions to attend mass.

Jim and Ann Ryan travelled 70km to attend Palm Sunday Mass in Co Cavan last year, which was in breach of the 5km travel limit in place at the time.

The couple were convicted of the offence at Cavan District Court last month and say they will go to jail if they can't get it overturned.
