Roscommon councillor says rates increase 'extra burden' for small businesses

They're going up by 5 per cent in 2025, in the first rise in over 15 years.

An Independent councillor is warning that Roscommon businesses could be forced to close because of an increase in commercial rates next year. They're going up by 5 per cent in 2025, in the first rise in over 15 years. The decision was made at Roscommon County Council's budget meeting yesterday.

Councillor Nigel Dineen was one of four councillors who opposed the increase - he says it's an extra burden for small businesses.
