A Roscommon councillor says online commentary is adding to the pressure faced by firefighters across the county. Micheál Frain's comments come following criticism of Roscommon County Council over the continued closure of Castlerea Fire Station. The issue was raised again by Cathaoirleach Paschal Fitzmaurice at this month's meeting of the local authority. Roscommon County Council say they don't have the budget to reopen the station which has been closed now for eight years. Cllr Frain, who has been a firefighter for 26 years, says other brigades are doing their best to cover a wide area. He says comments on social media criticising response times were damaging morale:
