Residents welcome non-development of modular homes in Boyle & Roscommon Town

The units in Roscommon town were earmarked for the Lisnamult and Centre Point Retail Park areas.

News that modular homes for refugees will now not be developed in two Roscommon towns has been welcomed by residents.

The controversial plans for the homes in Roscommon town and Boyle have been ruled out as the sites are not appropriately zoned. However, a plan to install 47 modular homes for over 200 refugees in Ballaghaderreen is still under consideration. The units in Roscommon town were earmarked for the Lisnamult and Centre Point Retail Park areas. One resident in the Lisnamult area of the town said she's pleased the development won't be going ahead.

Speaking to Shannonside News, Samantha Scally said Lisnamult was an inclusive area but unsuitable for the housing:
