Real concern that many suckler farmers will give up farming in 2022 - IFA

The IFA says there is real concern that many Shannonside  suckler farmers will have to leave farming behind in 2022.

Roscommon Chair Jim O' Connor says that as well as pressure coming to reduce herd numbers with fertiliser limits and other measure announced in the climate budget, the CAP deal will see many farms struggling.

He says the government needs to introduce a dedicated support scheme to keep suckler farming viable, but this is not yet on the agenda.
