Presidential 'hopefuls' Bob Geldof and Conor McGregor may attend Shannonside council meetings

Bob Geldof, Conor McGregor and former weather presenter Joanna Donnelly may attend council meetings in the Shannonside region later this month - to try to become presidential candidates.

Wannabe candidates can enter the race if they're backed by four local authorities, if they don't already have a nomination.

Up to 10 people, possible including Geldof, McGregor, Donnelly, will make their pitches to the country's 31 councils later this month.
