President Michael D Higgins has called for action now, in response to the escalating famine in Gaza.
He says yesterday's report, announcing the famine in the war-torn country, has not come as a surprise.
President Higgins, says without urgent change, it will be difficult to see how the international community can emerge without the loss of credibility and moral authority.
UNICEF Ireland Executive Director Peter Power says aid needs to be increased ten fold.
