A well-known Athlone hotel has applied for new guest accommodation on it's site.
Wineport Lodge, based in Glasson, have applied to Westmeath County Council for three floating pod type guest rooms.
Also included is a small link deck and connection to the existing Wineport Lodge restaurant.

An environmental report included with the application says the development would not have an adverse impact on water quality in Lough Ree or the surrounding wildlife.
A decision on the development is due in February.
