The outgoing Bishop of Achonry Paul Dempsey said his final Mass in Ballaghaderreen yesterday.
As well as being the area's bishop, he has also been Ballagh's parish priest for the past four years.
He is leaving to become an Auxiliary Bishop of Dublin on May 26th.
The dioceses of Achonry and Elphin are to merge, with the Bishop of Elphin, Kevin Doran, appointed Apostolic Administrator of Achonry.
Bishop Dempsey spoke to Eoghan Murphy after yesterday's Mass.
He first spoke about how there were only 50 people in St Nathy's cathedral in Ballaghaderreen when he was appointed in 2020.
Eoghan spoke to several local people who were attending yesterday's Mass about Bishop Paul.
The administrator of the Ballaghaderreen parish, Fr Paul Kivlehan, also paid tribute, speaking to Eoghan yesterday.
