Planning permission granted to fill previously used quarry in Roscommon

The area will see the restoration of the excavated landform to natural habitat and grazing.

Roadstone Limited have received planning permission to fill a previously used sand and gravel quarry in Roscommon.
The application relates to the site at Knocknanool Townland in Brideswell, Athlone with the development set to be completed in nine years, including a two year restoration period.

Plans call for the use of up to 190,000 tonnes of imported inert natural materials such as soil, stone and broken rock to fill the disturbed landform.
The application includes a site office, staff welfare facility and waste inspection and quarantine facility.
The area will see the restoration of the excavated landform to natural habitat and grazing.
Permission was granted with 19 conditions attached including a requirement for a development contribution of €46,580.
