Permanent planning permission for Lough Funshinagh crisis months away
The flooding at Lough Funshinagh in south Roscommon in the past

A temporary measure should also go to planning next month according to the OPW Minister.

A planning application for a permanent solution to the flooding crisis in south Roscommon will be lodged in around six months' time.

On a visit to Roscommon yesterday, OPW Minister Kieran O'Donnell also confirmed a temporary measure should go to planning next month.

This involves a pump taking water out of Lough Funshinagh through Curraghboy.

Rahara residents are increasingly concerned about the turlough flooding their homes this winter.

O'Donnell says a long-term plan is also progressing well.
