People are being urged to be wary of bogus callers in the North Longford area.
There have been reports of scammers calling to homes and claiming they are working as external contractors on behalf of Longford County Council.
They are offering gravel, tarmacadam or similar materials at low cash prices.
Yesterday, an elderly woman in the North Longford area was asked for a deposit of 300 euro from such scammers.
