Pensioner who died in Longford Town crash to be laid to rest today

The much-loved Strokestown man was struck by a car on Earl Street on Tuesday morning and was critically injured.

A pensioner who died after a crash in Longford town will be laid to rest today.
Strokestown man John Ross died aged 85.
The much-loved Strokestown man was struck by a car on Earl Street on Tuesday morning and was critically injured.
He was brought to Beaumont Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Tuesday evening.

Paying tribute, former politician Eugene Murphy, from Strokestown, said he was a "very well known and loved individual".
He says John Ross was a "great carer for those around him" and was a lover of music.
His removal will take place on Monday to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Strokestown, to arrive for funeral Mass at 11am, with burial afterwards in Strokestown Cemetery.
