The owners of a property in Ballyleague say they will not be making any applications for the building to be used as an IPAS centre in the future. It's after a protest meeting was held in the Roscommon village last night. The owners of the former Costello's Nursing Home and Care Centre, Shay and Sarah Costello, confirmed in a statement this evening that the building will not be used as an IPAS Centre in the future. It currently accommodates Ukrainian refugees and there has been speculation that it'll become an IPAS centre in the coming weeks. They say they were informed today by the company running the centre as emergency Accommodation for Ukrainians, Harveydale Ltd, that they will cease operating when the remaining residents are provided with alternative accommodation. The statement goes on to say that 'At this stage we do not know when the residents will be moving but we are liaising with the company who are running the centre.'
Shay and Sarah Costello also confirmed that The Department of Migration received an application from Harveydale Ltd for emergency accommodation, but the department has stated this is no longer under consideration. The owners wished to clarify that application was not made by the Costello's. The statement concluded by saying 'Roscommon County Council have determined that the premises is not suitable for such a purpose and the premises in Ballyleague is not deemed exempt under section 5 which is necessary to operate as an IPA centre.'
