Over €340,000 is being invested to support community sports and physical activity initiatives in the Shannonside region.
It is part of more than €4 million in Dormant Accounts Funding by the Department of Culture, Communications, and Sport and Sport Ireland.
The Dormant Accounts Funding allows unclaimed funds from accounts in credit institutions in Ireland to be utilised for projects focused on overcoming the barriers and challenges to participation in sport for those who are economically or educationally disadvantaged, or those affected by a disability.
€123,000 has been allocated to Roscommon local sports partnership with just under €112,000 and exactly €110,000 on the way to Longford and Leitrim respectively.
Among the areas of investment will include community sports hubs and sports inclusion disability projects
