Over 7,000 Fixed Charge Notices were issued for speeding in the Shannonside region last year. The figures released by Garda Authorities cover the Mayo/Roscommon/Longford and Sligo/Leitrim Garda divisions. The Mayo/Roscommon/Longford division saw 5.042 fixed charge notices issued last year which is down by 119 for 2022.
Meanwhile, the Sligo/Leitrim Garda division handed out 2,250 fines in 2023 which is up 77 on the previous year. However, there has been a major decrease in fines compared to 10 years ago when over 17,000 fixed charge notices were handed out in the region. Nationally, the figures have dropped by 27% nationally since 2014.
