New figures show gardaí seized more than 700 vehicles locally during 2025.
In the Mayo, Roscommon and Longford Division, a total of 708 seizures took place over the year.
Gardaí say the checkpoints and seizures form part of a sustained effort to improve road safety, with a particular focus on detecting speeding, drink-driving and drug-driving offences.
They also aim to increase visibility on rural and regional roads, especially during busy periods such as weekends, public holidays and late-night hours.
Garda management has reiterated that checkpoints and seizures will continue throughout 2026 as part of national policing and road safety strategies.
