Over 40 waiting for a bed at local hospitals

Over 40 admitted patients were on trolleys in local hospitals this morning.

There were 33 waiting at Sligo University Hospital and 4 each in the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar and Portlaoise.

University Hospital Limerick accounts for the largest number of those, with 130, followed by Cork University Hospital with 62 and University Hospital Galway with 42.

Of the total number of people waiting for beds, 345 are in emergency departments while 148 are in wards, according to the INMO.
