Over 40 patients waiting at local hospitals

There were over 40 patients waiting for a bed at hospitals serving the Shannonside region this morning.

34 of those were waiting at Sligo University Hospital, putting it the third highest in the country.

This includes 15 in the emergency department and 19 on wards elsewhere.

Portiuncula and The Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar had 7 and 4 respectively.

University Hospital Limerick remains the country's most overcrowded facility with 84.
