Over 325 million euro worth of residential property was sold in the Shannonside Region last year. New figures from the Central Statistics office show that the region saw 1,900 sales across the 12 months of 2024.
Of the 1,900 sales made in the region last year, just 380 were from first time buyers. Roscommon saw the highest amount of sales at 876, coming to a total of 156 million euro changing hands.
188 first time buyers in the county climbed on the property ladder. Longford was next according to the figures with 85.6 million euro in property transactions from 521 sales.
115 new home owners in the county were also first time buyers. That's compared to Leitrim where just 77 individuals purchased a house or apartment for the first time out of 504 sales.
The county saw over 83 million euro in house sales across the year. Nationally, over 71,000 properties were sold to new owners at a combined cost of 25 billion euro.
