New figures show over 15 thousand people across the Shannonside region were issued Irish passports last year.
Data from the Department of Foreign Affairs and published by 7LÁ shows that 15 thousand 817 issues were made in counties Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon.
County Roscommon saw the highest figure locally in 2025 with 7,569 passports.
In Longford, the figure stood at 4,596, while Leitrim recorded 3,652.
Overall, passport applications nationally fell by around 12 per cent to 933,121 but there was a sharp rise in demand from Irish citizens living overseas.
The Department says the drop in renewals is partly linked to the impact of Covid-19 travel restrictions five years ago - meaning fewer children required new passports in 2025.
