Over 100 people in the Shannonside region have applied for a driving test this year - but didn't show up on the day. The Irish Independent says it includes 32 in Longford, 20 in Roscommon town, 29 in Carrick-on-Shannon, and 25 in Athlone.
They paid the fee of €85 to the Road Safety Authority. Ballinamore councillor Gary Prior says the no-shows are worrying, when the waiting lists are so long:
