A number of recreation forests and amenities in the Shannonside region have been allocated additional funding. It comes as part of a strategic partnership between the Department of Community, Rural and the Gaeltacht and Coillte. €40,000 is on the way to Lough Key Forest Park to carry out repair works to the timber footbridges crossing the canal. It's hoped this will continue safe and reliable access.
Derrycarne Wood in south Leitrim will see minor trail repairs and verge cutting, with spot tree surgery where needed. In county Longford, Derrycassan, Gorteen and Newcastle will see routine upkeep of paths and signage. While a number of county Roscommon sites have been included on Coillte's maintenance list. Among those Correen, Knockranny and Miner's Way Historical Trail.
