The National Parks and Wildlife Service is promising to provide funding to repair damage caused by the massive west Roscommon fire. It estimates 90 per cent of a special area of conservation was burnt in last month's forest blaze in Gortaganny.

SACs are prime wildlife conservation areas. Niall Cribben, from the NPWS, is confident the damage done in west Roscommon will eventually be fixed:

Niall was speaking at a public meeting in Gortaganny last night, attended by around 100 people. He's pledging the NPWS will provide money for the restoration efforts:
