NPWS appeal for information after a buzzard was shot in Co. Roscommon

The NPWS say the bird was found by a local dog walker in the Elphin area during a walk.

The National Parks and Wildlife Service is seeking assistance from the public following the discovery of an injured buzzard in North Roscommon earlier this month. The NPWS say the bird was found by a local dog walker in the Elphin area during a walk. Upon examination, the buzzard was found to have a wound on its neck and breast area, prompting further investigation.

The female buzzard is currently under the care of Kildare Wildlife Rescue and is expected to recover and be released back into the wild in due course. Anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in the Drumlish area, close to the Drummullin Post Office just outside Elphin around the 2nd of February is asked to provide the information to the NPWS.
