There are no plans to reopen the chapel at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Roscommon. It has has been shut for over two years because of fire-safety issues. A room is currently provided as a prayer space for private prayer and where mass can be said for the residents of the home.
Earlier this week, the Regional Health Forum West heard the HSE would be open to revisiting the possibility of looking at its restoration- when work on the current replacement bed project is completed. Member of the forum and local Cllr Emer Kelly feels there is need for the chapel:
