The Chairman of Longford Municipal District is welcoming moves by the executive of the council to help local cafes and restaurants when they re-open at the end of the month.
The council will be offering on street permissions for outdoor seating areas for the businesses in an effort to help them increase their capacity when the weather allows.
A similar plan was outlined at a meeting of the Athlone-Moate Municipal District in recent days.

Application forms to put the furniture out will be available from Longford council shortly and Councillor Seamus Butler says he hopes it will prove helpful to the businesses who have suffered serious losses over the past few months.
