Longford is the best county for learner drivers looking to pass their test, while Dublin is the worst. Research from 123.ie Insurance has ranked counties based on figures from the Road Safety Authority and the CSO. This research is based on six areas - the number of driving test centres in each county, how many tests were done last year, and the pass rates and average waiting times for those tests. It also looked at the numbers of road traffic fatalities, and drivers with recorded penalty points.
Longford gets the top score, with a 58 per cent pass rate and a five week average waiting time. Dublin is the most difficult county for learner drivers, showing a 47 per cent pass rate and the longest average waiting time in the country at 35 weeks. Leitrim, Cavan, Roscommon and Sligo are the highest rated counties for learners looking to pass their test. Monaghan, Cork, Carlow and Galway complete the top five most difficult.
