A new project has been launched to support elderly women in counties Leitrim and Roscommon.
It will bring volunteer 'befrienders' and other community-based supports to women living in long-term residential care.
The Community Linkage Project is managed by Age Friendly Ireland and funded by the Women's Health Fund in the Department of Health.
It aims to address existing gaps in social connections for older people in the region.
