A new greenway bridge in Athlone is set to be named after the late Mary O'Rourke. The former TD and Government Minister passed away last year at the age of 87.
Cllr Paul Hogan brought forward the proposal earlier this year at a meeting of Athlone-Moate Municipal District and it was subsequently approved by local councillors in the past week. Fine Gael Councillor in Athlone John Dolan feels it's an appropriate tribute:
