The HSE has confirmed a new doctor is expected to start work in Lanesboro next month.
It follows a lengthy process to fill the vacant GP position in the south Longford town.
The post had been advertised three times since March of last year but now a candidate has been identified.

The news follows a parliamentary question from Sinn Féin TD Sorca Clarke.
She says it's good news for Lanesboro following a period of uncertainty:
