The Minister for Rural and Community Development has officially opened the Mohill Public Realm Improvement Scheme today. The €3.7 million upgrade of the town includes pedestrian crossings, new road surfaces, lighting and street furniture. The works were delayed by the Covid 19 pandemic and caused some criticism locally about the effect on parking in the town.
Locals, political representatives and council staff attended the unveiling of the plaque this morning in front of the sculpture of Turlough O'Carolan. The Rural Regeneration Minister will now travel to Carrick on Shannon, Leitrim Village and Drumshanbo for various official openings and events including the Market Yard in Carrick, the Leitrim Village Diversity and Inclusion Project and the Mayflower Community Centre in Drumshanbo. Minister Calleary says he's delighted to have the Department fund these projects and will continue to work with local county councils:
