Forests and bogland were destroyed in the Gorthaganny fire.

Hundreds of acres of forestry was destroyed in the blaze in Gortaganny and Carrowbehy last month. 

The Minister for Social Protection and Rural and Community Development says his departments can't help landowners affected by the west Roscommon fire. Hundreds of acres of forestry was destroyed in the blaze in Gortaganny and Carrowbehy last month.

Last week Forestry Minister Michael Healy-Rae ruled out compensating landowners - or giving them money to replant their trees.  Minister Dara Calleary says his departments can't do anything either:
