Ming rules out running in presidential election

The Midlands Northwest MEP had previously said he was considering trying to replace Michael D Higgins in the Aras.

Castlerea's Luke 'Ming' Flanagan has ruled himself out of contesting the presidential election.

The Midlands Northwest MEP had previously said he was considering trying to replace Michael D Higgins in the Aras.

Independent Galway-West TD Catherine Connolly and Fine Gael's Mairead McGuinness are the confirmed candidates so far.

But Ming says he won't be joining them - and is backing Deputy Connolly:
