A man's been remanded in custody after being charged with the murder of a woman in Clifden, in County Galway.
The alleged offence is said to have occurred at Couravoughil, Clifden between Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.
35-year-old Ali Sohrabi of no fixed abode, was charged with the murder of Masoumeh Jafri Manojan at a special overnight sitting of Galway District Court which lasted less than five minutes.
He did not speak during the brief sitting, and the court heard he had replied 'no' to the charge, when arrested earlier in the evening.
Free legal aid and a Persian interpreter were granted by the court.
Judge Fiona Lydon remanded Sohrabi in custody to appear by video link to Galway District Court next Wednesday.
