The Longford Women's Link service responded to just under a thousand calls to its helpline last year. Its CEO Tara Farrell also confirmed that it supported 331 women and children in cases of domestic abuse and violence. It comes as a Women's Aid report published earlier this week revealed it received the highest amount of contacts in its 50-year history in 2024.
The report also highlighted that 44% of women who seek help from the authorities found the Garda response 'unhelpful.' CEO of Longford Women's Link and director of Roscommon Women's Network, Tara Farrell, says the housing crisis does not make it easier for women and children to escape the abuse:
