Longford patients who need eye consultant told to go to Dublin

Deputy Micheál Carrigy says local patients requiring a consultant ophthalmologist now have to attend the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital in Dublin.

A local TD has raised concerns about the lack of ophthalmology services in Longford and Westmeath.

Fine Gael's Micheal Carrigy highlighted the issue in the Dáil with Tánaiste Simon Harris last week.

Deputy Carrigy says local patients requiring a consultant ophthalmologist now have to attend the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital in Dublin.
