Longford family thank public for helping Cian's Kennels single reach Christmas number one

A Longford family has thanked the public for their support of a song dedicated to the memory of a boy who passed away from cancer

A Longford family has thanked the public for their support of a song dedicated to the memory of a boy who passed away from cancer in September 2019.

The charity Cian's Kennels was set up in the memory of 15-year Cian Neary by his family to provide therapy dogs for people and children with serious illnesses.

Last year two students of the Mercy Secondary school in Ballymahon recorded the song Sanctuary, which was performed at Cian's funeral, as part of a fundraising campaign for the organisation.

And to their delight, it reached the number one slot on the iTunes download chart for Irish country just before Christmas.

Cian's mother Evelyn told the Joe Finnegan show that they were stunned by the support they have received :
