Longford disability centre receives glowing report from HIQA inspectors

Inspectors left assured that residents enjoyed a good quality of life and quality of care.

A designated centre for disabilities in Co Longford has passed with flying colours in a recent HIQA report.
Inspectors left assured that residents enjoyed a good quality of life and quality of care.
Teach Solas provides full time residential care to five adults with intellectual disabilities.
It is a 5 bed roomed bungalow house, that is nursing led, with support staff available day and night.
The unannounced inspection, which took place on the 5th of December 2025, reviewed compliance with regulations relating to the care and support of the facilities residents.

Inspectors observed a warm engaging environment and found that the residents were supported to enjoy a quality service with a staff team who were familiar with residents needs and preferences.
The design and layout of the house was confirmed to be suitable and supported accessibility needs.
HIQA reported compliance across the key regulations examined during the visit.
Overall, the service was deemed to have safe and person-centred care and support which met the individual assessed needs of residents.
