A Longford councillor says the temporary loss of ophthalmology services in Longford is unacceptable. Patients are being forced to travel to Athlone to access eye services due to the ongoing recruitment issues. Cllr Peggy Nolan has accused the HSE of failing to find cover for the Ophthalmologist in Longford, who's currently on maternity leave.
The Fine Gael Councillor says enough notice was given to the body for them to find a replacement. Speaking to Shannonside News, she accused the HSE of being disloyal to the people of Longford:
