Longford council agrees to increase commercial rates by 4pc

Commercial rates will increase by 4 per cent in Co Longford next year, it has been confirmed.

The full increase won't apply to over 80 per cent of ratepayers, because of the Small Business Support Scheme.

The council wanted to increase rates by 7 per cent.

However, a 4 per cent increase was agreed at today's annual Budget meeting.

Councillors had the final say over the rise.
