Local teenagers address Seanad on climate change

The teens from Roscommon, Longford and Leitrim got a chance to address politicians in the Upper House today.

Three teenagers from the Shannonside region are raising issues of climate change at a special Oireachtas committee meeting today.

Comhairle na nOG member Ruth Cunningham from Roscommon and Longford's Dariuz Konefal as well as Foroige representative Mae Weir from Leitrim are all sharing their thoughts in the Seanad on the theme of youth perspectives on climate change.

The teens have expressed their concerns about the impact climate change is having on their local communities, how Just Transition in the region needs to be re-examined and refined as well as the ongoing concern over the impact banning the sale of turf will have on their local communities.

Ruth told the Seanad that the rising cost of energy is a huge challenge for everyone, young and old
