Longford Senator Micheál Carrigy has welcomed RTE's decision to suspend the tender for a Fair City photographer.
Director General Kevin Bakhurst says it isn't possible for the station to commit to a four-year contract or this level of spend given the challenges it faces.
The tender looking for a new photographer was paying up to 60,000 euro a year for someone to be on set for around 20 hours a week.
