A Longford senator has called for big investment in local parks. Senator Joe Flaherty highlighted Lough Ree as a location that is in need of investment in the Seanad on Wednesday.
It comes following the allocation of over €100 million in funding for the National Parks and Wildlife Service for 2026. Senator Flaherty says Lough Ree would be a perfect location for a national freshwater park:
