Landowners affected by the west Roscommon fires should receive state compensation, according to a Fine Gael senator. Gareth Scahill told the Seanad the blazes in Gortaganny caused extensive damage over the weekend.
He said some landowners face a financial hit of up to 100,000 euro, due to the loss of forestry or bogs. Senator Scahill is calling on the Heritage Minister to intervene:
