A local Senator has called for higher pay for social care workers.
Sligo-Leitrim Senator Nessa Cosgrove told the Seanad that carers get paid an insulting amount for the level of work they do.
The Labour Party representative believes it will become harder for people to justify going into that line of work if wages don't increase.
