A local secondary school won the #ThinkLanguages competition with the winners receiving a trip to Brussels.
Our Ladys Bower Secondary school in Athlone won the competition which took place between 27th November and 1st December 2023.
#ThinkLanguages is an annual event for Transition Year students, celebrating languages inside and outside of the classroom and thinking about how languages can enhance life’s opportunities.
Minister for Education, Norma Foley congratulated the school by saying the school showed great creativity, teamwork and enthusiasm for languages.
The winning team from Our Lady’s Bower and two teachers will get the opportunity to visit Brussels and the various EU institutions and sites.
They will also have a visit to the Permanent Representation of Ireland to the EU, Ireland’s largest diplomatic mission abroad.
